Project Overview
Health for Oakland’s People & Environment (HOPE) Collaborative runs environmental justice (EJ) cohorts of young adults in the Oakland area that meet regularly to learn about and discuss local issues, many of which revolve around air quality. These cohorts, funded by a California Air Resources Board Community Air Grant, aim to develop a community air plan and other educational materials for dissemination to the wider Oakland community. HOPE Collaborative staff reached out to the Bay Air Center looking for air quality educational opportunities for these EJ cohorts. Working alongside HOPE’s staff, the Bay Air Center developed and presented two different presentations for the EJ cohorts on the topic of air quality.
Testimonial
“The Bay Air Center is a great resource for air quality and pollution education. The team at the Center is very knowledgeable, responsive, and approachable. The participants of the Environmental Justice Cohort were able to engage and learn a lot through just an hour long presentation. Anyone engaged is community education on air quality should utilize the Bay Air Center in their work”
– Janina Turner, HOPE Collaborative Environmental Justice Co-Director
