Alameda County Library

Project Overview

The Alameda County Library system serves over a half million Bay Area Residents each year, providing both multimedia resources and other community services to its neighbors. Library saff partnered with the Bay Air Center on developing educational air quality resources they could display in high-visibility areas across the library system, especially during Air Quality Awareness Week. The goal was to have the audience come away with a better understanding of where air pollution comes from, what the major pollutants of importance are, the health impacts of breathing dirty air, and some actions that they could take to both reduce pollution and protect their health.

The Bay Air Center worked with library staff to develop a succinct but comprehensive tri-fold poster board that included localized air quality information and QR codes leading to current air pollution conditions. The poster displayed at libraries across the region.

I think the content will be valuable for us in the years to come, as something we can bring out around spare the air days and wildfire preparedness.
